Things I've Learned In Puerto Rico

Things I've Learned In Puerto Rico:

1. A stop at Hipi Cache as soon as you land will set your La Isla del Encanto and make it hard for other establishments to compete.

2. Mofongo icon camorones is still my favorite dish (so much so I didn't even have my second favorite- yucca at all)

3. While our resort was nice, an AirBnB would have been better for us because we like to explore.

4. Breakfast at Wyndham Rio Mar is delicious!

5. Golf at Wyndham Rio Mar has beautiful views. Bring your own clubs

6. The Wyndham Rio Mar is really nice but the beach is public and not maintained as nicely as it would be if the hotel owned it.

7. Wyndham Rio Mar pools close at 6PM, but the Margaritaville pool with swim up bar is open until 10PM ( Mike wants you to know the swim up bar closes at 8 smh).

8. Get the rental car, it's well worth it.

9. SJU has a lot to wait for arriving plane passengers. You park your car and hang out at the bar, convenience store or go out to the roof to watch the planes land. So cool.

10. You have to beat the sun to the rainforest gates.

11. Loiza remembers and preserves the islands African/black pride and culture... and personal greetings are still the norm when eye contact is made.

12. The Bomba class that I ended up in was exactly where I was supposed to be and can't wait to return.

13. Bliss Adventures Puerto Rico is the real deal. They tailored our tour to suit our needs and were willing to pivot without question mid-tour.

14. Walking Old San Juan is not for the faint of heart, so glad Drixa suggested we drive through on a tour.

15. Eter Rooftop & Lounge has a gorgeous view of San Juan, complete with umbrellas for raining days, and an amazing menu 15a. ( parties of 6 or more require one check and mandatory 20% server tip - check the rules before making reservations there's a list that could set you back a wad if you're not aware)

15b. My suggestion: don't make a reservation - just show up early and hope there's space.

16. We didn't have time to go the West or South sides of the island, nor did we have time to go any farther East than Rio Grande.

17. 18 years was too long between my first visit and my return. I'll be back again soon.

18. Most of all I need to return for a longer time ( 4 days was not enough)
