7 REASONS TO START HOSTING RETREATS
“Practice What You Preach.” - Barry White
Introduction:
Of course the quote is a reference to Norman's Peele recipe of avoiding battles to have happiness in life. He suggests retreating in a masterly manner a victory.
My definition of retreat is the act of pulling back from distractions to focus on one outcome/goal; and I recommend implementing this principle to generate more rest and revenue in your business instead of fighting through fatigue and burnout.
If you are an expert, coach, or consultant, chances are you already have programs to drive revenue into your business. And if you don’t, maybe you should create one. Don't get nervous, it's not as hard as you think. You're already an expert... now wrap your expertise up into a retreat. It's truly a gift that keeps on giving to you and your clients. A retreat can boost your brand awareness, increase conversions, and improve customer experience.
Retreats help you connect with your current and potential clients on a more personal level and allow them to interact with you in an individual capacity. Retreats also helps to weed out prospects who are not right for your program.

With that said, here are 7 reasons to start hosting retreats.
1. Add more revenue into your business
You're already the expert, why not deliver your expertise in an experiential way. Give your clients the gift of rest and information in an experience that they will not only remember but want to have again. No gimmicks or tap dancing necessary. Just blow their socks off with a remarkable program delivery in an extraordinary location.
2. Cross dream destinations off of your bucket list
The benefits are not just one sided. If you're a travel enthusiast hosting a retreat should be at the top of your list!
Not only should you provide a wonderfully themed getaway for your clients, be sure to select a destination that you want to visit. Image using your business to visit places you've always dreamed of while giving your clients the best that you've got.
3. Display your authority
Retreats are great way to show your participants that you are the real deal. Granting them access to you and your expertise over the course of a few days to solve their problem or answer questions establish credibility. Moreover, retreats can provide you with an opportunity to build an audience that will help push your company’s brand recognition.
4. Build relationships with potential clients
One of the most important aspects of starting a hosting a retreat is establishing a connection with your potential customers. This can be done through engaging in casual conversation, imparting information during structure programing, offer one-on-one on location coaching, or even lending a shoulder and encouragement. These interactions also make it easier for you to understand what your ideal clients will want from you and your business in the future.
5. Hosting drives long-term results
Retreats provide the focus required to accomplish an objective or goal AND create experiences that add value in the long run. Meaning when an experiences is attached to learning, the lessons stick with us longer and therefore are more likely to be implemented.
Your retreats serve as a vehicle through which you can share information, knowledge, and tips on your preferred topics. No imagine if your clients had the time to focus only on what you've shared while on hiatus from outside distractions... BOOM more long-term success - more recommendations - more lives changed for the better - and a better world because of it.
6. Travel Transforms
Any time we change our longitude and latitude our attitude changes. Selecting destinations that correspond with the goal of your retreat adds icing to your program. The goal of any program is transform the situations and/or lives of the attendees. The easiest way to begin is with travel.
The transformative power of travel should never bee under rated. Our point of view changes when we travel, we can let go of everyday distractions that hinder our productivity and see the world, as well as our circumstances, with fresh new eyes.
7. Rest is the true Creative Elixir
Rest has been underrated for years. You've heard the cliches: "I'll sleep when I'm dead.", "Ideal hands are the devil's workshop", and so on. Truth is rest is the keep to staying vibrant, creative, and healthy.
Often we are too busy to take the time to take inventory of our lives and business and decide what's next and best for ourselves. Running on autopilot daily, until burnout takes over. Then we wonder "HOW DID I GET HERE?" and more importantly we need a strategy to get out of the exhaustive hades we've worked ourselves into.
Begin with a commitment to REST. Rest is a form of selfcare. With it come relaxation and relief from tensions that make us believe we need to press forward when we should actually take a pause. Clarity, creativity, and innovation show up with we give our minds and bodies time to rest.
Remember rest is not just for your clients but for you as well.
